Homeless Children and Youth Act (HYCA) Would Serve Some of the Most Vulnerable Children and Youth, and Prevent Future Homelessness
The outbreak of COVID-19 has only exacerbated this problem by putting additional children and youth at risk of homeless situations and increases threats to the safety and well-being of children and youth already experiencing homelessness.
HCYA would reform HUD homeless assistance by aligning federal definitions of homelessness. In addition, HCYA simplifies and streamlines eligibility and promotes leveraging additional resources through improved interagency collaboration. Allowing communities to assess and serve some of the most vulnerable children and youth, and prevent future homelessness.
This legislation is supported by over 50 national organizations and 100s of state and local organizations.
