NN4Y has been working hard to push the Administration on Children and Families to extend the Runaway and Homeless Youth Act (RHYA) NOFO deadline. The 14 day deadline was out of compliance with the standard 60-day NOFO process and violates federal law, which requires NOFOs to be posted at least 30 days before the deadline.
Thank you to everyone who reached out to your lawmakers as part of our advocacy campaign to ask them to take action! We heard from many Congressional offices that constituents had told them about this issue and wanted them to get involved, which resulted in Members of Congress contacting ACF directly, and Dear Colleague Letters to ACF are in process in both the House and Senate.
As a direct result of our work and your advocacy, ACF has extended the Basic Center Program, Transitional Living Program, and Maternity Group Home NOFO deadlines from 7/23 at 11:59 PM Eastern to Monday, 7/28 by 11:59 PM Eastern.
Keep Up the Pressure
Federal regulation dictates that NOFOs should be posted at least 30 days ahead of the deadline. Send this email to your Senators and House Representative(s) to ask them to tell ACF to honor the 30 day deadline. Use this contact list to send the email directly to your lawmakers’ staff.
