We are excited to announce that HUD has released the Notice of Funding Opportunity (NOFO) for the Fiscal Year (FY) 2022 Youth Homelessness Demonstration Program (YHDP). Advocating for funding for this vital program is one of NN4Y’s top priorities as well as report language to expand and improve this program.  YHDP is designed to address systemic responses to youth homelessness and significantly reduce the number of youth experiencing homelessness.

Through this NOFO, HUD will award approximately $72 million to up to 25 participating communities, with a priority for communities with substantial rural populations in up to eight locations. All communities are strongly encouraged to consider applying. The deadline for submissions is June 28, 2022.

About the Application

  • Applications must be submitted through Grants.gov (not through e-snaps).
  • The FY 2021 YHDP Application is for your community’s participation in the initiative only. Project funding applications will only be submitted by communities selected to participate.
  • The FY 2021 YHDP Application must be submitted by a community’s Continuum of Care (CoC) Collaborative Applicant but should be co-developed with a broad array of community partners, including a youth action board, a state or local child welfare agency, youth homelessness housing, and service providers, local school districts, community health organizations, workforce development organizations, law enforcement, judges, corrections, and more.
  • Youth leadership is a critical component of the YHDP. Communities are required to establish a Youth Action Board to guide the Coordinated Community Plan and YHDP project design development.
  • American Indian and Alaska Native tribal governments and organizations may be eligible to receive project funding under this NOFO. View the upcoming webinar below for details.
  • Documents on YHDP are located on the HUD Exchange YHDP page.
