In every American community, youth run away from home, are kicked out of their house, leave the juvenile justice system with nowhere to go or exit the child welfare system with no support to enable successful transitions to adulthood.
Thank you to all of our supporters who urged your U.S. House Representative to sign on to the FY22 Dear Colleague letter that asked for $300 million for the Runaway and Homeless Youth Act (RHYA) program and $300 million for the McKinney-Vento Education for Homeless Children and Youth (EHCY) program.
Because of YOUR ACTION, Congress recognizes the critical role of the RHYA and EHCY programs.
These programs are an investment in a young person’s life and enable them to avoid chronic adult homelessness, intergenerational cycles of poverty, and pervasive instances of trauma.
Click here to see the final letter with the signatures from 77 members of congress. If your representative is one of the 77 please reach out to them and thank them for their support.
