Recently, Darla Bardine, Executive Director of NN4Y, was a guest blogger for Human Trafficking Search. In this blog, Darla talks about the intersection between sex and labor trafficking and homelessness for young people, common themes, and how this can change.

NN4Y is actively advocating for increased investment at the federal level so that more than $33 per youth per year is provided to help our young people in need. With increased funding for the Runaway and Homeless Youth Act, the only federal program targeted to identifying and serving youth and young adults experiencing any form of homelessness; the US could provide comprehensive services and housing options to youth who need it. This would remove youth and young adults from situations that make them vulnerable to trafficking and also increase the communities’ capacity to serve survivors of trafficking.
